One of the greatest resources that we have at The Esther School is the campus library. At this time, the library is only minimally stocked with books, but there are enough to have students come, as well as children from the Every Orphan's Hope orphanage, on a weekly basis. Eventually, we would like to have enough books for the library to be open to the entire community here. At the present time, we are so thankful for those back in the States who are eagerly working to collect more books for the library here. What a gift books are, as they allow us not only to help with reading, they also allow us to teach the children and community about the world, and our God. This semester, a new library program has begun on Campus. The program is geared toward toddler aged children, ages 3, 4, and 5, who are not currently attending school. The group will meet every Wednesday from 2 - 4 p.m. During that time, children will learn a Bible story, sing songs, play with developmental toys, and/or do a craft.

Yesterday was the second time that the group gathered together, and it was amazing to see the enthusiastic turn out! There were over 20 toddlers gathered in the library with their moms. Lindsey led the children in singing, a Bible story, and reading. Getrude (Zambian Preschool Teacher at The Esther School) translated and assisted in engaging all of the children and ensuring that all of those who attended were enjoying their time and learning. The rest of us helped where we could as the children transitioned into play time.

Already, we couldn't help but to be encouraged by how excited the community is to have educational resources and opportunities available to their young children. Mamas walk with their children a long way in order to be present, and they were all eager and engaged. We were able to see glimpses already of the children that will be ready for preschool here at The Esther School in the Fall, and were so encouraged by how quickly the children are already beginning to learn and interact with each other and the toys (play-doh, large beads, and building blocks) that they were given to play with.

Please join us in praying for the children that will be attending Story Hour on Wednesdays, as well as the supply of books that is currently being collected in the States for the library. What a blessing!

Enjoy a few pictures of this most special time.....
