Today is World Teachers' Day, a national holiday celebrated in Zambia. The Esther School greatly enjoyed joining in the local program and celebrating teachers! The Esther School staff gathered in the morning and headed to a nearby school in the district. Teachers from a number of schools gathered together. The day started with a march, where banners were carried and songs were sung. We ended the march at the school's football (soccer) field and filed into seats for the program. The Esther School teachers opened the program with a few of our favorite songs from chapel. The rest of the morning was filled with performances from various schools and inspiring speeches. The guest speaker was the District Commissioner of Education. He spoke on this year's theme, "Empowering Teachers; Building Sustainable Societies." Through his speech, the District Commissioner encouraged the teachers to empower their students to create a better future.

Listening to speakers. Can you spot our headmaster under the tent?

Thank you, teachers, for all your hard work, for your heart for students, and for building a community of faithful and skillful servant leaders!
