I write this with a heavy heart to share that The Esther School suffered a setback this afternoon at the hands of a storm. Let me start by saying all staff is safe and no students were on campus at the time.

About 5pm local time the sunny skies quickly shifted to ominous clouds. With no warning at all, the wind greatly intensified and rain began to fall horizontally. As quickly as it came, it passed after 20 minutes but not before damage had been done.

One of our educational buildings saw nearly all the roofing sheets blow away and the ceilings collapse into the classroom. Rain fell heavily on all that was inside of the Library, Preschool, Music, and Grade 2 rooms. Our staff, neighbors, and those who had heard the news, rushed to begin clearing the spaces and shifting resources to dry buildings. With the hard work of many, we were able to get everything cleared before the sun went down and it is our hope that the quick response salvaged many items.

In the next couple of days we will assess the damage and come up with a plan moving forward. Please allow us time to do so; so that we may best share with you, our faithful supporters, more details and “What’s Next.”

While this is a setback, it is far from a defeat. We hold onto the promise found in Isaiah 41:10 that states “So do not fear, for I am with you;
 do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.“

A beautiful sunset served as a visual reminder to God’s presence in all circumstances.

Thank you for your prayers and support. More to come.
